Detonation

Serene and so calm
But looks can deceive
I can see through
These shams that you weave
Internal conflicts
You place out of sight
I wonder when you'll
Exhibit your might
Coarse on the outer
But warm on the inner
Things sure heat up
When your shields become thinner
And now you paint
The sky with your blood
You've given in
To the domestic flood

Banana

A little banana
Sitting next to me
Was there since
My first memory
Though a little distant
From the start
This little banana
Soon found my heart
Now my banana
Seems so far away
Now my days are
All turning gray
But no matter what
I'll never forget
The little banana
I had once met

Shades of Gray

Nothing more
Than what you see
Clouds in the sky
Leaves on a tree
Hidden beauty
Everywhere
Hard to miss
But do you care?
It isn't always
Black and white
There's shades of gray
Within my sight
Something more
Than what I see
These hidden beauties
Set me free

Dear _____,

You opened my eyes
And showed me the way
New types of beauty
New shades of gray
You taught me some lessons
That I won't forget
My cup is half full
My clothes are not wet
You gave me some problems
But nothing is free
Now I'll live life
According to me
You'll see me again
I promise you this
Cause your part of my past
And I do reminisce

Memories of Love

Can't see at all
Though I can sure feel
Echoes of what
I tried to conceal
Flickers of light
Sometimes reflect
Just to remind me
Of when I had wrecked
The cave I dwell in
Is forever changed
Because of you
I'm not too deranged
But the echoes live on
Perhaps for all time
But why should I care
For nickels and dimes

Six-Stringed Guide

Someone must be
Crying outside
The rain is bringing
Up the tide
So me and you
Become allied
I touch your strings
And open wide
My mind pours out
What's left of pride
And now my sadness
Soon subsides
Look what happens
When we collide
Let's spread this
Message nationwide
And if we fail
At least we tried

Cause and Effect

To plant a seed
Requires much care
I wouldn't have guessed
We'd made a good pair
Water it gently
Patience is key
I saw your whole soul
As big as the sea
First sign of growth
Don't get excited
Too soon for love
You simply must fight it
Now this young seed
Has become a flower
Now I can't see
The way I once saw her
My flower was stolen
Perhaps by the wind
Sun strikes my eyes
How long has it been?

Extinguished

Though I still burn
I'm no longer bright
Mr. oxygen
Is losing the fight
Always being pushed
The wind is unkind
So many enemies
I'm stuck in a bind
Along comes another
Wet drippy foe
Throw water on fire
And I won't die so slow
The ground creeps up closer
As I'm fading away
Don't try to light me
I'm done for the day

Wooden Ships

Time sure kills
When I wish you would last
Sharks swim around
Steering ships toward my past
And here I thought
You were made out of gold
Sheltering me
From the shivering cold
The waves kept on hitting
Though you always stood strong
Now you're in pieces
Like an unfinished song
Drunk from the pain,
It might have been me
Turning wood into flames
Setting misery free

Falling With Style

Just a small drop
Hanging by a thread
Without this green land
I'd surely be dead
All of my peers
Falling, crawling down
Only to enjoy
A most beautiful sound
I know I cannot
Climb towards the sky
Pretend I can't see
Or live with a lie
So no more worry
As the wind hits my face
Embracing the end
As I leave this old place

Temporary Conditions

A lone white spot
In a sea of blue
Are you just
Passing through?
Stay awhile
You keep me calm
I'll just pretend
You're in my palm
But shades of gray
Tell me more
You're slowly moving
Just like before
So why wait
For a new white spot?
You were special
Forget me not
